Should I buy LTO-8 or LTO-9?
Buy LTO-8 to replace a failed drive or match an existing LTO-8 estate. For anything new, an LTO-9 tape drive usually makes more sense: it reads and writes your LTO-8 tapes and adds 50% more capacity per cartridge. LTO-8 is also available as a Unitex USB external drive.
